About the production
Thank you and welcome to the ultimate musical experience – The Woman I Am Today. We are humbled and honored to present this dynamic stage musical that has created its own unique genre of theatre: DRAMEDY. This theatrical work has achieved the ultimate balance between the thrill of drama, and the joy of comedy – a feat that is not easily accomplished.
This production is near and dear, the most prominent being its universal themes: Love, Laughter, Friendship, and Family. Those four core principals are what make this play universal, and able to reach audiences of every race, gender, age, background, and belief.
The Woman I Am Today tells the story of every woman – and even every man. We have worked hard to shape a creative vision for this production, the goal was to prioritize cultural themes that ring true in most of our lives: the need for unity, and the necessity of uplifting one another as members of the human race, despite the many challenges and obstacles that accompanies everyday life. Although the musical takes you on many twists and turns, visiting heavy subjects like lust, intimacy, abuse, deceit, addiction, sexual orientation, and struggle – the underlining positive themes continue to reign supreme.
As you journey through the lives of these characters, the hope is you will find a piece of yourself in each of them, causing you to empathize and relate to some facet of who they are. Although you may love one character in one scene, pity them in another, and despise them in the next, I hope that the overall vision and direction of this amazing story leaves you cheering for each character to obtain personal success and ultimate triumph.
As the eyes and ears that will see and hear this story, first and foremost, enjoy the ride. Realize that this musical has been shaped to provide you, the audience member, with the opportunity to sit down in your seat as one person, hoping that when you leave, you will not be the same – but better. Laugh, cry, hate, love, scold, and encourage each character as they take their own personal journey towards redemption. And hopefully, you will find a small bit of redemption for yourself.
The ultimate goal is to fill you with the power and wonder of love. We trust that you will share in each of the character’s laughter and tears. We pray that you will understand how life, pain, love, grief, hope, and faith all play a part. We believe that when you leave after seeing this production you will tell this tale the next day and that it will help your heart remember and relive it.
